A friend of mine came home a few months ago from the States and gave us lipstick for pasalubong. I was so excited to see that she got us two options – a Stila liquid lipstick in the shade Fiery and an Urban Decay Revolution Lipstick in F-Bomb. I am not really a huge fan of liquid lipsticks so I decided to pass on the Stila and picked the Urban Decay one – also because I have been itching to try their lipstick range since it came out. I really love enabler friends who feed my make up addiction ha ha ha!
Our friend “A” chose the shade F-Bomb because another friend requested for a “p*ta red” lipstick ha ha ha! I remember laughing out loud when I read that Viber message from “P” – what a way to describe a shade, no?
The packaging is beautiful – from the box to the actual bullet. The lipstick is encased in a beautiful shiny, textured gunmetal. As soon as you remove the cap, you’ll see the trademark Urban Decay purple holding the lipstick in place. I don’t know about you, but I am a sucker for beautiful packaging and I like how Urban Decay stayed true to their style of slightly edgy but classy packaging.
From the bullet, you’d catch a glimpse of the lipstick and let me tell you, I was excited but a little intimidated. It’s the kind of shade that requires a whole lot of confidence to wear, and for most people, it’s not an everyday lipstick. I love wearing red lipstick (my favorites are MAC Russian Red and NYX Xtreme Lip Cream in Absolute Red) but even then, I was a little scared to try this one.
As soon as I tried it on my hand, though, I was impressed. It is very opaque and applies like a dream! No tugging, no pulling – yasss! I immediately got over my fear and tried it on my lips and it was LOVE at first swatch. I like that it is not as drying as Russian Red, but is crazy pigmented! One swipe is all it took and I was sold!
The shade F-Bomb is a bright, mostly neutral red. I think Russian Red and F-Bomb are quite similar in color – maybe just different in texture since F-Bomb has more of a satin finish while Russian Red is matte. I wore it for about three hours to see if it would dry out my lips and it didn’t. It stayed on, and even when it started to fade, it left me with a beautiful red tint on my lips.
I was curious to see what it was made of and this is what I found on their website:
Our Pigment Infusion System™ gives Revolution Lipstick its super creamy texture, insane pigmentation, superior color dispersion and extended wear. Maxi-Lip™ defines and hydrates lips while making them look plumper and fuller. And a nourishing blend of jojoba oil, avocado oil, cocoa butter and shea butter keeps lips super moisturized and cushiony soft.
Ahhh so that’s why it’s very moisturizing – it has a bunch of oils to hydrate the lips!
I think this may be my new favorite red lipstick – inching Russian Red to the number two spot. I definitely prefer the formula of this over Russian Red’s matte. Now I am excited to try more of the Urban Decay Revolution Lipstick line… I think I will try either Fiend, Illicit, Liar, Naked, Protest, Rapture or Strip next ha ha ha! I already have a list, geeze – I seriously have a problem!
The only downside is that these are not locally available – unless you purchase from online stores. I do hope Urban Decay comes to Manila in the near future, I would definitely spend HOURS inside their store if they ever do ha ha ha! Make up addicts, you feel me, right?
Have you tried the Urban Decay Revolution Lipstick line? Let me know what shade you love and I just might add that to my list! Now, I am off to stalk online/Instagram beauty shops! Ta-ta for now!
